how to cook frozen pelmeni recipes
Here's a recipe for frozen pelmeni:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound ground meat (pork, beef, or a combination)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped parsley or dill for added flavor
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, egg, and salt to make the dough. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper and parsley or dill (if using). Mix well.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut the dough into 2-3 inch circles using a round cookie cutter or a glass.
- Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough in half to form a semi-circle, then press the edges together to seal.
- Place the pelmeni on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat and freeze for about 1 hour, or until firm.
- Once frozen, you can transfer the pelmeni to a freezer bag or container for storage. They will keep for up to 3 months in the freezer.
- To cook the frozen pelmeni, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Gently drop the pelmeni into the boiling water and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Drain and serve with sour cream and chopped fresh herbs.
You can also sauté or fry the pelmeni in butter before serving for added flavor.
