Recipe: Rice Pilaf

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup long-grain rice

2. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

3. 1/2 cup chopped onion

4. 1/2 cup chopped celery

5. 1/2 cup chopped carrot

6. 2 cloves garlic, minced

7. 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

8. 1/2 teaspoon salt

9. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

10.1/4 teaspoon paprika

11. 1 bay leaf

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Rinse the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and set it aside.

3. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.

4. Add the onion, celery, and carrot, and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

5. Add the garlic and sauté for another minute.

6. Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat it with the butter and vegetables.

7. Add the broth, salt, pepper, paprika, and bay leaf to the pot, and stir to combine.

8. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.

9. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender.

10. Remove the pot from the oven and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.

11. Remove the bay leaf, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve.
