cheesy tuna noodle casserole recipe


 Recipe: Tuna Noodle Casserole

Ingredients:

1.  8 ounces egg noodles

2.  2 tablespoons butter

3.  1 onion, chopped

4.  2 cloves garlic, minced

5.  2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

6.  2 cups milk

7.  1 cup chicken broth

8.  2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained and flaked

9.  1 cup frozen peas

10. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

11. 1/2 cup bread crumbs

12. Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking time: 45 minutes

Boiling time: 8-10 minutes

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

2. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions in a large pot of boiling salted water until they are al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.

4. Stir in the all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute.

5. Gradually whisk in the milk and chicken broth, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth.

6. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

7. Stir in the drained and flaked tuna, frozen peas, and cooked egg noodles. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

8. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and bread crumbs over the top.

9. Bake for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread crumbs are golden brown.

Serve hot and enjoy!

Cooking tip: You can prepare the casserole ahead of time and refrigerate it until you are ready to bake it. Just add an additional 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
