Here is a unique biryani recipe that you can try at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, beans, peas, etc.)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon green chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Saffron strands (optional)
  • Lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the basmati rice in plenty of water and soak for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large saucepan, heat the ghee or oil and add the cumin seeds. When they start to crackle, add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger paste, garlic paste, green chili paste, and cook for a minute.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add the mixed vegetables, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain the rice and add it to the saucepan. Mix well with the vegetables.
  7. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed.
  8. In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup of yogurt until it starts to boil. Remove from heat and add a pinch of saffron strands (optional) and lemon juice (optional).
  9. Spread half of the cooked rice in a large serving dish. Pour the heated yogurt over the rice. Cover with the remaining rice.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with raita or chutney.
