1. 1 pound ground beef
2. 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
3. 1/4 cup milk
4. 1/4 cup chopped onions
5. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
6. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
7. 1/2 teaspoon salt
8. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
9. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
10. 2 tablespoons butter
11. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
12. 2 cups beef broth
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onions, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly combined.
3. Shape the meat mixture into four or six oval patties, depending on how large you want them.
4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil until it shimmers.
5. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
6. Once the patties are cooked, transfer them to a baking dish and place them in the preheated oven to keep warm.
7. In the same skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
8. Add the all-purpose flour to the melted butter and whisk until combined.
9. Gradually add the beef broth to the skillet, whisking constantly until the mixture comes to a simmer and thickens into a gravy.
10. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook the gravy for 2 to 3 minutes until it has reached your desired thickness.
11. Remove the hamburger steaks from the oven and pour the gravy over them.
12. Serve immediately and enjoy!
